SAN live: San Diego International Airport

One runway between the bay and downtown, and the steepest approach in the country.

This page is the live view of San Diego International Airport in San Diego: every aircraft on the map is a real flight, drawn where it is right now. It needs JavaScript to draw the map.

The layout

San Diego International is the busiest single-runway commercial airport in the United States. Runway 9/27 runs east to west along the north shore of San Diego Bay, with the terminals along its south side and the city's downtown a mile to the east. There is no room to grow: Marine Corps Recruit Depot borders the west end, and the hills of Bankers Hill rise to the east.

The new Terminal 1, opened in 2025, replaced the original 1960s building; Terminal 2 handles the rest, including the international flights.
